Two members of the Silvertips organization were summoned by Team USA today.
Associate head coach Jay Varady has been named to the coaching staff for the U.S. at the 2010 World Junior Hockey Championships in Saskatoon and Regina. Varady will handle the video duties. It will be his first time coaching at World Juniors. Varady will also one of the evaluators at the team’s evaluation camp in August, a duty he also performed last year.
Speaking of evaluation camp, Everett left wing Tyler Maxwell was one of 43 players invited to the camp. The 18-year-old Maxwell, who had 22 goals and 24 assists in 57 games last season as a rookie, was one of 24 forwards who will compete for approximately 13 roster slots. Maxwell is one of three WHL players on the invitation list, joining Spokane forwards Tyler Johnson and Mitch Wahl.
