Pack up your cooler and a beach blanket: Jetty Island Days begin Wednesday.
The ferry for the 2-mile-long man-made island leaves the 10th Street boat launch every half-hour from 10 a.m. to 5:50 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 8:50 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 6:50 p.m. Sundays through Sept. 7. The ferry returns from the island at 15 and 45 minutes past every hour.
The Everett Parks Department organizes group tours, campfire programs, nature walks and children’s craft times throughout the summer. Bring sunscreen, snacks, water, kites, whatever, since there are no supplies on the island.
The ferry is free, but tickets are required and are handed out first-come, first-served at the boat launch kiosk. Waiting is definitely on the agenda on sunny days. Call 425-257-8304 or go to www.everettwa.org/parks.
