Snohomish woman on dean’s list

Ashley Julian of Snohomish has been named to the spring term dean’s list at Eastern Oregon University in La Grande, Ore. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must achieve and maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

Local students Excelsior graduates

Three local students recently graduated from Excelsior College in Albany, N.Y.

Oak Harbor resident Abraham Schenk and Marysville resident Richard Wiles both earned a Bachelor of Science degree.

Jennifer A. Rieger-Vetter of Oak Harbor earned an associate in science degree in nursing.

Local women win WWU scholarships

Three Snohomish County residents recently received President’s Scholarships to Western Washington University in Bellingham.

Lily Doleatti, daughter of Anthony and Mary Jane Doleatti of Everett, received a $2,000 scholarship. Laura Peterson, daughter of Craig and Candise Peterson of Lynnwood, received $2,000. Suzanne White, daughter of George and Danielle White of Everett, received $1,000.

President’s Scholarships are awarded to the top 8 percent to 10 percent of incoming freshmen and transfer students.

Everett educator attends conference

Deborah Wrobel, a technology specialist with the Everett School District, participated in a conference for Discovery Educator Network members at the Headlands Institute in Sausalito, Calif., from July 13 to 17.

The event was hosted by Discovery Education, a division of Discovery Communications, whose networks include Discovery Channel, Animal Planet and Science Channel.

The network is for educators who are passionate about using technology and digital media in the classroom.

Kaplan grads from Snohomish County

Kaplan University celebrated the graduation of its summer 2009 class during a ceremony July 25 in Chicago.

Several Snohomish County students were awarded degrees.

Stephanie Franzo of Monroe was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice.

Michelle Handelsman of Stanwood was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in paralegal studies.

Cydney Kilby of Everett was awarded an associate of applied science degree in information technology.

Mike Libby of Arlington was awarded an associate of applied science degree in criminal justice.

Shawna Riley of Everett was awarded an associate of applied science degree in business administration.

Kristi Waddelow of Snohomish was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in management.
