EVERETT — A man stabbed Thursday morning by his girlfriend was rushed to a Seattle hospital with mortal wounds.

The man, who police believe was in his 30s, died at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Snohomish County sheriff’s spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said.

Detectives arrested the man’s girlfriend at a home in the 11500 block of Marino Avenue, she said.

The violence erupted just after 10 a.m. and 911 was called.

The woman, 25, told emergency dispatchers a man had attacked her and she accidentally stabbed him. She was booked into the Snohomish County Jail on Thursday on suspicion of second-degree murder and prostitution.

Detectives are trying to determine if her claim of domestic abuse could be supported, or if the man was a victim of domestic violence.

The couple have lived at the residence — a duplex in unincorporated Everett — for a couple of months, Hover said. No one else was present at the time of the stabbing.

An autopsy is expected to be conducted before the man’s identity is released by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The man’s death is the second fatal stabbing in Snohomish County this month.

On Aug. 20, Derrick Craig Everson, 21, of Everett, was stabbed more than 20 times because his assailant allegedly was irritated with him.

Everett police arrested David Mitchell Kopp, 19, of Everett, in connection with the slaying. Kopp remains jailed in lieu of $1 million bail.
