50 YEARS AGO (1959)
Dr. Harold D. Waltz of Everett was participating in a symposium on childhood reading problems and Dr. George Drumheller of Everett was demonstrating new procedures in eye examination for children at the Washington State Medical Association convention in Seattle.
Announcement was made that Eugene Smith had joined the Al Beauchamp real estate and insurance firm at 2910 Wetmore Ave. Smith specialized in residential sales and had been in the real estate business in this community six years and a resident 23 years. Active in civic affairs, he was president of the South Junior Parent Teacher Association.
25 YEARS AGO (1984)
The Lowell Civic Organization was meeting tonight in the Lowell Elementary Library to discuss Everett’s proposed adult entertainment zone, historic survey project, bike path plan and Lowell Park improvements. Lowell’s free autumn cleanup was scheduled for Saturday.
Construction was to begin this week on a $358,000 project to install storm drains in Stanwood. City Engineer Robert Boudinot said the storm sewers would be in two-thirds of the west end where there had been flooding. Taylor’s Excavators Co. of Stanwood was doing the work.
