Everett 2, Lethbridge 1, plus Abney update

Markus McCrea scored on a quick wrister with 3:42 remaining in regulation to snap a 1-1 tie and give the Tips the win this afternoon in Kennewick. Josh Winquist gave Everett the lead on the power play early in the second period, with Lethbridge’s Cam Braes tying it up three minutes later. Luke Siemens made his first start in goal for the Tips and stopped 23 of the 24 shots he faced. Everett outshot Lethbridge 33-24.
With the victory Everett finished 2-0 at the Tri-City Preseason Tournament and is 4-1 overall in exhibition games.
In other news, Everett’s Cameron Abney had an impressive debut as the Edmonton Oilers rookies beat Vancouver’s rookies 6-3. Abney scored a goal, and Bob Abney reports that Cameron also won a fight and was named the game’s third star.
