EVERETT — A manhunt was under way today as police searched for a suspect in a pre-dawn shooting that left one person dead near a South Everett espresso stand.

Police said they’re looking for Bud Michael Fraser, 21, of Marysville, in connection with the fatal shooting.

Detectives believe the victim was killed when he dropped a woman off for work around 5 a.m. at the Cowgirls coffee stand at the corner of SE Everett Mall Way and Third Avenue SE, Everett Police Sgt. Robert Goetz said.

Moments later, a gunman fired one shot into the victim’s red Honda, leaving him dead, Goetz said.

The victim, whose name has not been released, is believed to be in his 20s.

Police are looking for Fraser, who is described as having a dark tan and a Mohawk-style haircut. Witnesses told police they saw Fraser walking away from the parking lot where the shooting occurred, Goetz said.

Fraser is about 5-foot, 7-inches tall and weighs about 145 pounds, Goetz said. He had a prior dating relationship with the barista.

A yellow Camaro parked at a nearby McDonald’s was being seized as evidence. Detectives believe Fraser drove the car this morning. He is not the car’s owner, Goetz said.

Detectives still were trying to establish the relationship between the victim and the barista. Fraser and the victim likely knew each other, or knew of each other, police said.

The woman was cooperating with detectives, Goetz said.

Police photographers used an Everett Fire Department ladder truck to collect aerial shots of the killing scene.

Friends and relatives of the victim congregated and held each other, as tears streamed down their faces.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s office is expected to conduct an autopsy.

The morning violence is the second homicide in Everett this year.

Anyone who sees Fraser or has information about his whereabouts is asked to call 911.
