One of Boeing’s 787 suppliers, Latecoere, said it plans to slash 1,000 jobs today. The French aerospace company will also ask Boeing for compensation due to the delays in the 787 program, reports Reuters.
Boeing says it plans to fly its 787 by the end of the year and deliver the first mostly composite jet in the fourth quarter of 2010, more than two years late. Many suppliers like Latecoere have been left to wait for payments from Boeing until first delivery.
Latecoere, which makes doors for the Dreamliner, also pushed Airbus for payments after the European jet maker delayed its A380 superjumbo jet.
