MILL CREEK — Detectives believe an argument over speeding on Saturday evening sparked a fight between strangers that left one of them clinging to life.
A 53-year-old man was walking his dog not far from the Seattle Hill Elementary School about 5 p.m. when he got into an argument with the driver of a passing vehicle, Snohomish County sheriff’s Lt. Rob Palmer said.
The men didn’t know each other.
Detectives believe the dog walker made a comment about the driver’s speed, Palmer said. The driver, a man in his mid-30s, reportedly assaulted the other man. The two got into a fight, and the motorist was stabbed, Palmer said. It was not immediately clear what type of weapon was used.
He was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with life-threatening injuries. His condition was not known Sunday night.
The dog walker was taken to an Everett hospital. His injuries were not considered to be life-threatening, Palmer said.
Detectives from the sheriff’s major crimes unit were investigating the incident. No arrests had been made as of Sunday afternoon.
