Arlington: Kids can paint for project

Arlington Library invites kids to help paint a fish as part of a community art project.

The painting session is set for 2 p.m. Friday at the library, 135 N. Washington Ave., and is supported by the Friends of the Arlington Library.

For those who remember the 103-member herd of painted plywood cows that decorated a field near the Island Crossing exit off I-5 in 2003, a similar art project is going up in late October.

The cows were part of Arlington’s centennial celebration, and the next project — a school of colorful fish — is designed to pull people off the freeway during the 2010 Winter Olympics in British Columbia.

The community art project is a collaboration between the city and the Arlington Arts Council.
