Arlington: Open house on roundabout planned
The public is invited to review the state Department of Transportation’s plans for a new roundabout at the intersection of Highway 9 and Highway 531 at an open house set for 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Arlington High School, 18821 Crown Ridge Blvd.
The open house includes a hearing at 7 p.m. for property owners near the roundabout project.

Camano Island: Solar power explained
“Making Sense of Solar” is the title of a program to be presented by Suzanne Few, Snohomish County Public Utility District residential programs manager, at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Camano Multipurpose Center, 141 N. East Camano Drive.
Few is set to provide information on the PUD’s solar energy program and its financial incentives.
The presentation is part of the fourth Wednesday informational series sponsored by the WSU Island County Beach Watchers.

Mill Creek: City seeks four board volunteers
The city is looking for people interested in serving on the Arts and Beautification Board.
The eight-person advisory board reviews public art proposals and works on special events geared toward enhancing the city’s aesthetics.
Four positions expire Saturday.
The board meets at 4 p.m. on the second Wednesday of the month at City Hall, 15728 Main St.
Those interested should apply by Nov. 2 by sending a letter of interest to Kelly M. Chelin, city of Mill Creek, 15728 Main St., Mill Creek, WA 98012.

Snohomish: Fifth Street construction starts today
The intersection of Fifth Street and Maple Avenue will be the site of construction for about three weeks starting today as crews extend water, sewer and power for affordable housing units.
The construction will close access to Fire Station 41. As a result, crews and equipment will be moved to the station at 1525 Ave. D, working from there until work is complete.
Sultan: Meetings help plan the future of town
City officials will launch a series of community meetings Tuesday in an effort to get input on the future of Sultan.
The small meetings are part of the city’s effort to update its long-term plan. The city envisions population growth of 6,500 people in the next 20 years.
Input is needed on how to structure housing, jobs, roads and parks to accommodate that crowd.
Through Dec. 8, meetings will be held at 6:30 p.m. every other Tuesday at City Hall, 319 Main St.

Edmonds: PTA seeks items for auction, raffle
Picnic Point Elementary School’s PTA is planning an ice cream social and silent auction and raffle.
The event, called Leave a Legacy, is 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 6 at the school’s gymnasium, 5819 140th St. SW, Edmonds.
Proceeds will be used to help teachers buy classroom materials. Donations are being accepted.
