SULTAN – A man was being rushed to a Seattle trauma center by helicopter this afternoon with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The man reportedly shot at a Snohomish County sheriff’s deputy before turning the gun on himself, Snohomish County sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Brand said.
Deputies were called around 3 p.m. to a report of a man with a gun in the 13800 block of Dogwood Court, Brand said.
When the deputy arrived, the man, believed to be in his early 60s, fired at the deputy. He then shot himself, Brand said.
The deputy was not injured and did not return fire.
Paramedics worked to stabilize the man before he was flown to Harborview Medical Center. The man, whose identity was not released, was in serious condition.
Several detectives and sheriff’s deputies rushed to Sultan to investigate.
