Happy takeoff

Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner finally took to the skies Tuesday at Paine Field, more than two years behind schedule.

Happy landing: After circling the Strait of Juan de Fuca for about three hours, the world’s first commercial jetliner made of composites made a perfect landing at Boeing Field in Seattle.

Police searching for Colton Harris-Moore were on standby in case the Dreamliner made a hard landing in an apple orchard near Sequim.

Would you like to play a game? No passengers were aboard for Tuesday’s flight. Instead banks of computer equipment filled the passenger area and recorded data throughout the flight.

Catering to the computers, the day’s in-flight movies included “2001: A Space Odyssey,” “War Games” and “Tron.”

BFI, not ORD: The Dreamliner’s test flight crew noted one glitch Tuesday.

Their luggage was misdirected to Chicago O’Hare.

Howdy, Tex! While spectators cheered the textbook takeoff at Paine Field and landing at Boeing Field, the cloud cover provided the only other disappointment of the day.

Those on the ground weren’t able to watch as the crew recreated Tex Johnston’s 1955 barrel roll of Boeing’s first jetliner, the Dash-80.
