Political FYI: Rep. Hans Dunshee to hold town hall meeting by phone

Published 11:43 pm Monday, January 4, 2010

Residents of Lake Stevens, Mill Creek and Snohomish should be getting a phone call tonight from Rep. Hans Dunshee.

Don’t hang up if you want to talk with the Snohomish Democrat about issues the state Legislature will deal with in 2010 — including the possibility of higher taxes.

Dunshee plans to conduct a live town hall by telephone from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The way it works is those living in the 44th Legislative District will receive a call at 6:30 p.m. and be invited to stay on the line to chat with the lawmaker. They also can hang up.

If your phone doesn’t ring, you can call in and participate. The toll-free number is 877-229-8493 and the code for the conference call is 15080.

“Having a town hall on the phone is a new thing, and I know some people will love it and some people will hate it,” Dunshee said in a press release announcing the event.

“It’s an experiment, and I may try other new things, like having an online town hall, because not everyone has the time to drive to a physical meeting, and I’d like to hear from everyone that I represent.”

On Jan. 16, Dunshee will hold two town hall meetings in person.

From 10 a.m. to noon he will be in Room A of the Lake Stevens School District Administration Building, 12309 22nd St. NE, Lake Stevens.

At 1 p.m. he will be in the council chambers at Mill Creek City Hall, 15728 Main St.
