Arlington: Grocery store accepts donations for Haitian relief
Managers at Arlington Food Pavilion, at Broadway and Haller streets, have set up an easy way to make donations for Haiti earthquake relief.
Customers are invited to make a donation at checkout. All donations will be delivered to the American Red Cross Haiti relief fund.

Camano Island: Crab feed benefits center
The Camano Island Crab Fest to benefit the Camano Senior and Community Center is set for 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the center, 606 Arrowhead Road.
The meal includes a whole Dungeness crab, coleslaw, baked beans, bread, beverage and dessert. Tickets are available at the center. Cost is $18 or $15 for members.

See a free showing of ‘Pollinators in Peril’
The Camano Wildlife Habitat Project offers free popcorn and a movie at 7 tonight, Camano Multipurpose Center, 141 N. East Camano Drive.
“Pollinators in Peril,” a documentary starring Peter Fonda, shows the importance of bees, birds, bats and insects to human food production.
As Fonda hops on his motorcycle and rides from Montana to Panama, he meets prominent scientists who discuss why so many pollinators are in danger and what can be done to help. The evening also is sponsored by Friends of Camano Island Parks as part of the Island County watershed project.

Marysville: American Legion Post 178 adds Ladies Auxiliary
American Legion Post 178 is re-establishing a Ladies Auxiliary in Marysville.
An organizational meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday at the American Legion Post Hall, Second Street and Cedar Avenue.
The purposes and benefits of auxiliary membership will be explained at the meeting.
Wives, mothers, sisters, daughters and granddaughters of veterans, either by blood or step relationships, are likely eligible for membership, according to Post 178 Commander Ken Cage.
Anyone whose application is received by Jan. 31 is eligible to become a charter member.
The organization sponsors volunteer programs for veterans, youth and others.

Silvana: Swap meet planned for Viking Hall’s septic system
A swap meet is the latest event designed to raise money for a new septic system at Silvana’s Viking Hall.
More than 20 vendors plan to sell their wares from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the hall, 1331 Pioneer Highway. Lunch is available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Admission is $1.

Stanwood: Planning commission needs two more members
Former City Councilwoman Shelley Klasse is the newest member of the Stanwood Planning Commission, filling one of three vacancies on the board.
Interested people who live within the city limits or in the city’s urban growth area are urged to fill the two remaining vacancies.
The commission advises the City Council on land-use and development issues. The term of office is five years. The planning commission meets the second and fourth Monday evenings of each month at the Stanwood Fire Station.
