Everett alumni gather

Everett High School alumni and former teachers are expected Saturday afternoon when the school’s landmark main building celebrates its 100th anniversary.

Each decade of the school’s history will be represented in a different classroom with yearbooks, examples of clothing styles from that era, newspaper articles, photos, music and conversations.

The event will be from 1 to 4 p.m. and will include a 2 p.m. historical slide show in the Civic Auditorium.

The A building opened to students Jan. 31, 1910.

Entertainment before hockey: Kamiak High School math teacher Chance McKinney, with his band, CrossWire, will perform tonight before the Everett Silvertips hockey game.

The concert begins at 5:45 p.m. at 2000 Hewitt Ave. in Everett.

McKinney will also perform the national anthem before the game against the Portland Winterhawks.

McKinney was recently named as the winner of Music City Madness, a national singing and songwriting competition hosted by the Country Music Television cable channel.

Friday’s game also features a tribute to the city of Marysville and a free beanie giveaway to the first 500 fans, sponsored by BECU.

The 2009 National Championship-winning University of Washington Huskies Softball Team will be honored during Friday’s game. The festivities coincide with Hockey Weekend Across America, where all fans are encouraged to wear their favorite hockey jerseys to the games Friday and Saturday night.
