Take a Sultan survey

City officials in Sultan want to know what you think about the parks system. They’re seeking input through an online survey.

The survey is available at http://tinyurl.com/SultanParksPoll.

The 20-question multiple-choice survey will be available through April 30.

It asks residents to describe how they use the parks, which sites are their favorites and whether the addition of a new park would justify a tax increase.

Survey results will help the city update its parks and recreation open space plan.

For more information, go to www.ci.sultan.wa.us or call 360-793-2231.

Lower flags: Gov. Chris Gregoire has directed that flags at all state agency buildings be lowered to half-staff today in memory of U.S. Army Pfc. James Miller of Yakima.

Miller died in Afghanistan when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle.

Flags should remain at half-staff until close of business today or Tuesday morning.

Sloan Creek Road closes: Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest is closing Sloan Creek Road, also known as Forest Road 49, from Monday to Friday to replace culverts and repair damage.

Sloan Creek Road is 16 miles south of Darrington off Mountain Loop Highway at milepost 37.

Road construction will block access to Sloan Creek-North Fork Sauk, Lost Creek Ridge, Bald Eagle, Sloan Climber’s Route, North Fork Sauk Falls and Harold Engles trails.
