50 YEARS AGO (1960)
The host Everett Ski Club at Stevens Pass won the annual Thundering Fun Race trophy yesterday for a second year. Among the winners were Leonard Haugen, Katherine Waltz, Jim Hunter, Martha Granstrom, Art Granstrom, John Hunter and Debbie Hutshell.
Everett High School PTA was sponsoring a meeting of parents of ninth-graders who would enter Everett High in September. Counselors and guidance representatives would discuss the requirements for entrance as well as graduation. Vice principal Robert Carboneau said the purpose of the meeting was to let parents know a little about the school and its operations.
25 YEARS AGO (1985)
Diners could now reserve their place in a bit of Everett’s history by calling for reservations at J.J. Hill’s Bar &Grill at the Everett Pacific Hotel. The special of the week was a broiled rib-eye steak complete dinner for $9.95.
A home-based business workshop was to take place at the Everett Holiday Inn at the 128th Street exit of I-5. It was for hopeful entrepreneurs and existing owners who desired to manage a home-based business. Display space would be available with rectangular tables and tablecloths provided.
