North County Briefly: Arlington gets grant for medic training gear

Arlington Fire Department recently received a grant to help buy an advanced life support trainer.
The full-body simulator mannequin includes oral and nasal airways, a pulse, and intravenous sites in the hand and arm for use in training paramedics and emergency medical technicians.
Medic One Foundation provided $2,250 for the Simulaid trainer, which costs about $3,100.
Camano: Learn how to conserve energy
The WSU Island County Beach Watcher speaker series features solar energy expert Dick Kent at 7 tonight at the Camano Multipurpose Center, 141 N. East Camano Drive.
Kent’s presentation includes advice on reducing consumption and installing systems that help reduce energy demand in homes.

Rummage, plant sale to benefit yacht club
Camano Island Yacht Club’s rummage and plant sale is set for 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at 129 N. Sunset Drive, on the west side of the island.
Granite Falls: Officials’ training to be discussed
Liability training for public officials is scheduled for discussion at a special meeting of the Granite Falls City Council tonight.
The meeting is 6:30 p.m. at City Hall, 206 S. Granite Ave.
A presentation is scheduled on liability training for elected officials and department heads. No action is planned at the meeting.

Lakewood: Morris to headline fundraiser
Well-known Northwest gardening personality Ciscoe Morris is the headliner Thursday at the Plant Farm at Smokey Point, 15022 Twin Lakes Ave., at a fundraiser to benefit the Lakewood Education Foundation.
Tickets for a seminar and dinner are $100; tickets for the seminar only are $25.

Marysville: CPR class planned for May
A class in cardiopulmonary resuscitation is planned for May 17. The class is 6 to 9 p.m. at the Ken Baxter Senior-Community Center at 514 Delta Ave.
The class includes instruction in use of automatic external defibrillation devices. Those who complete the class can be certified in both CPR and defibrillation.
