EDMONDS — Less than a dozen tickets remain for the May 15 “Chef’s Tour of Dream Kitchens in Woodway” to benefit the Edmonds Center for the Arts.

The tour pairs five gourmet kitchens with a progressive tasting prepared by five area chefs, including Phil Swendt from Scott’s Bar and Grill and PCC Natural Markets cooking instructor and TV personality Lynn Vea. Those on tour will gather at a bonus sixth home with all the chefs for dessert.

“I am participating because I love the sense of community and joy I find in the city and people of Edmonds and I believe it is embodied beautifully in their appreciation for and participation in the arts and culture of the Northwest and of the world,” said Vea, a graduate of the executive chef program at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris.

She is planning to present “Spring Wraps of Duck Breast” and “Wild Morels with Candied Rhubarb-Red Curry Marmalade” during the tour.

“The Edmonds community has always been a huge supporter of Scott’s Bar and Grill,” Swendt said. “So many of our guests are active in the center and it’s wonderful to have the opportunity to show them the same support they have given us over the years. I love getting the chance to support the Center for the Arts, and share my passion for great food.”

He is preparing a summer favorite, “Heirloom Tomato and Mozzarella Salad.”

Prior to coming to Scott’s, Swendt earned his culinary arts degree from Seattle University then traveled to Australia to serve as executive chef at the Torango Zoo Convention Center and the University of Sydney. Returning to Seattle he was executive chef at McCormick’s Fish House before moving to Scott’s in 2004.

“The cost of operating ECA is simply not covered in event ticket prices,” said Nancy Fleck, chairperson for the event. “That is why we decided to raise some money with a different type of fundraiser that might reach out to more people in the community. People like looking at other people’s kitchens, and the chefs will embellish the event.”

The journey will begin at the ECA where attendees will board vans to start the tour.

Tickets are on sale through the ECA box office for $135 per person. Attendance is limited to 75. For more information, call 425-275-9595 or visit www.ec4arts.org.
