Family day at airport
Arlington’s annual Airport Appreciation Day is set for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the municipal airport, 18204 59th Drive NE.
The Young Eagles Program plans to give free airplane rides to children ages 7 to 18. Registration for flights begins at 9 a.m.
Other activities include emergency vehicle tours and aircraft displays.
Celebrate Cinco de Mayo: The Granite Falls Library is planning a Cinco de Mayo celebration today.
The free event is noon to 3 p.m. at the library, 815 E Galena St.
Children can make picados and pinatas, and a special Mexican cake is planned. Books are available for checkout from the library’s new Spanish collection.
Children must be accompanied by a caregiver.

Donate for Westover memorial: Today is the second anniversary of the funeral for Rob Westover. His brother, Russell Westover, died one year ago in a tractor accident at his home.
We wrote about Russell Westover on June 21, 2009, “Machias man lived his life with gusto.”
A garage and bake sale is planned for 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at 6810 211th Place NE in Arlington to benefit the Rob and Russ Westover Memorial Foundation.
The organization awards academic scholarships to college students.
The family said it’s a good time to drop by and share memories about their loved ones.
