If you’re interested in having your business participate in social media, “begin by listening to other conversations in the social networks concerning your market,” says Debbye Omlie, communications manager at the Center for Economic Vitality at Western Washington University.

“Learn what people are saying about your business, your competitors and your market … Try to understand the nuances of this form of communication and follow them.”
