MONROE — State fire crews managed to contain a forest fire burning southeast of town, said Mark Morrow, spokesman for the Department of Natural Resources.
The fire ate through nearly 2 acres of state-owned land on a ridge above N. High Rock Road. No homes were damaged.
Crews plan to spend the next day or two stamping out hot spots, he said.
