Learn about diabetes
The sixth annual Diabetes and You! conference is a free event — with lunch provided — for those who want to learn more about the symptoms and signs of this damaging disease.
The conference, co-sponsored by the American Diabetes Association and Partners in Progress of the Resident Councils of Washington, will have guest speakers including Dr. Alan Failor, director of the University of Washington Medical Center of Endocrinology, speaking about the signs, symptoms and complications of diabetes.
Diabetes and You! is from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Martha Lake Community Club, 16300 Motor Place, Everett. For questions, call Jim Hatcher at 425-357-9856 or Tammy Brooks at 425-328-7021.
Work the foothills: Volunteers can help fine-tune the location of new trails for off-road vehicles at Reiter Foothills during a party.
The event is from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Reiter gravel parking area, along Reiter Road.
Led by the state Department of Natural Resources, volunteers also will clear brush from the proposed motorized trail routes, increasing accessibility for hikers.
Travel U.S. 2 to near Gold Bar. Turn north on Reiter Road and in less than a mile you will come to a split in the road. Continue to your right on Reiter Road to the old gravel pit.
For more information, call 360-854-2830 or david.way@dnr.wa.gov.
No meeting in Stanwood: There is no regularly scheduled City Council meeting tonight in Stanwood.
