Bothell’s Country Village celebrates summer, kid-style

“Boring” is one word kids won’t use to describe a summer day in Bothell — especially this weekend.
They might, in fact, use the word “awesome.”
Country Village Bothell, at 23718 Bothell-Everett Highway, offers its third annual “Awesome August Kids’ Day” from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Activities include train and pony rides, a musical instrument petting zoo and outdoor toys.
“Awesome August is one of the few festivals — if not the only festival — in the area that celebrates all things kids,” management assistant Jenn Haskins said.
“It’s budget-friendly and hosts a variety of activities, but Country Village also has ongoing things for kids to do, like feeding the ducks, riding on the train and visiting kid-friendly shops.”
Some activities will be inside shops, while others will be in the central parking lot.
Still, organizers say parking space will remain.
Visitors will see a strolling magician from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday; hands-on “Everything That Flies” fun with rocket balloons, copter rockets and more from noon to 2 p.m. both days; and cookie decorating from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday.
The cookie decorating costs $5 per cookie. Pony rides are $3 each. All other mentioned activities are free. Call 425-483-2250 or go to www.countryvillagebothell.com.
