SULTAN — Police on Saturday were looking for a hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a woman Friday night.
Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies about 8:30 p.m. received reports of a person hit by a car on the 311 Avenue SE Bridge just south of U.S. 2, Sultan Police Chief Jeff Brand said. The woman was dead when they arrived. Deputies also found two men at the scene.
The woman was later identified as a longtime Sultan resident. Officials haven’t released her name.
Witnesses told deputies a nondescript vehicle was southbound on the bridge when it hit the woman. The vehicle reportedly continued without stopping, Brand said.
Detectives from the sheriff’s collision investigation unit are working on the case, he said. They believe the vehicle that hit the woman will have fresh damage on the front, possibly on the right side.
Brand on Saturday released no other details about the crash.
Anyone with information was asked to call detective Joe Goffin at 425-388-5436.
