SULTAN— City Councilman Ron Wiediger has resigned, citing health issues.
The council accepted his resignation Thursday and now begins a search for applicants to fill his seat.
Wiediger was first elected to the council in 2006, then won a second term in 2009, but had not regularly attended meetings since the start of the year.
Anyone interested to replace him can get an application from the city’s website or by calling at 360-793-2231. All applications with a letter of interest must be received before 4:30 p.m., Wednesday Nov. 10 at the City Hall, 319 Main Street, Suite 200.
The seat is position 3 and the term expires after the election in November 2011.
Applicants must be registered voters and have lived within the city’s boundaries for one year.
Councilmembers are paid by meeting and they could earn a maximum of $150 a month. There will be an interview of the candidates on Nov. 18 where a selection can be made.
