Obama finds donuts and cupcakes on campaign trail

President Barack Obama at this hour is hanging out in the north Seattle backyard of Erik and Cynnie Foss and their two daughters.
Also attending the conversation are Christina Lomasney, president of Modumetal, a Seattle-based nanostructured metals manufacturer she helped start in 2007 and Jody Hall, owner of Cupcake Royale which opened its first outlet in 2003 and now has five in Seattle.
(And, of course, Sen. Patty Murray and Gov. Chris Gregoire are there too.)
Hall didn’t come empty-handed. She brought a few of her salted caramel cupcakes, a creation inspired by Obama’s favorite chocolate and first introduced on Inauguration Day in 2009.
Those cupcakes weren’t his first batch of sweets for the day. The president made a surprise visit to Top Pot Donuts on 5th Avenue and ordered two boxes of donuts
This from the pool report:
“Who wants a little sample here,” he said, munching on what appeared to be an old fashioned glazed. “You can’t eat these everyday.”
Once the discussion ends, the president will head to the University of Washington for a get-out-the-vote rally with Murray.
In the meantime, Republican challenger Dino Rossi is touring a business in Kent this morning and plans to talk about earmarks at a Seattle location later today.
