The scanners were abuzz late Wednesday night with what turned out to be a rather tame — albeit watery — rescue effort.
Around 9:15 p.m. Wednesday, crews from Snohomish County Fire District 3 in Monroe were called out to Ben Howard Road, near the Thunderbird Leisure Time RV park, for a woman stuck on the Skykomish River. Snohomish County Sheriff’s deputies also were on scene.
The woman, 18, apparently tried to wade across the river to the nearby resort. She got stuck.
The woman wasn’t in danger of drowning. She just needed an extra hand getting back to safety.
She was taken to a local hospital about 10:45 p.m., after paramedics treated her for hypothermia.
Spokespeople with the sheriff’s office and Monroe fire department can’t say much more because of privacy laws, but one did say the woman appeared to have been “chemically influenced.”
Not all rescues are made equal, folks.
