EVERETT — A public memorial is planned for slain corrections officer Jayme Biendl next week in Everett.
It is scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday at Comcast Arena.
The memorial planning team includes representatives from law enforcement, the state Department of Corrections, the Behind the Badge Foundation and the city of Monroe, Everett police Sgt. Robert Goetz said.
They are expecting a large gathering. Additional information, including parking options and potential street closures, is in the works, Goetz said.
A separate, private ceremony is planned for family and friends in Granite Falls.
The team planning the public memorial set up a donations account to help pay for Biendl’s memorial service, Goetz said. Any money left over will be given to her family.
Donations can be made in memory of Jayme Biendl at any Union Bank location, formerly known as Frontier Bank, or at Union Bank at 201 W. Main St. in Monroe.
Teamsters Local 117, which represents corrections workers, also has established a Jayme Biendl Benevolent Fund.
Proceeds will offset funeral expenses and go to Biendl’s family, union officials said.
Donations may be made at any Bank of America branch location.
They also can be sent to the Jayme Biendl Benevolent Fund, 14675 Interurban Ave. S., Suite 307, Tukwila, WA 98168.
