McMINNVILLE — The Yamhill County sheriff’s office said search teams are looking for a family reported stuck in snow in Oregon’s coastal mountain range.

Sheriff Jack Crabtree said a man walked out to a spot where he could use his cell phone to call for help Monday afternoon after trying unsuc

cessfully to free his four-wheel-drive vehicle. The unidentified man said he, his wife and their 10-month-old child drove into the mountains Sunday but got the vehicle stuck in the snow as night fell.

The sheriff said the area from which the man called is about 1,500 feet in elevation, and 15 miles west of McMinnville, Ore. Crabtree said there is about four feet of snow there and more snow was falling Monday night.
