Monroe council to vote on sewer rate increase Tuesday night

MONROE — Residents could see an increase in their sewer rate next year.

The City Council is expected to make a final decision about increasing sewer rates by 14 percent at tonight’s meeting, 7 p.m., council chambers at 806 W. Main St.

The city needs to pay for improvements at the wastewater treatment plant. The increase will help pay for these expenses.

If approved, the rates will be effective April 1, 2012.
