Monroe: Residents will vote on measures

The Monroe City Council voted Tuesday to put two measures on the November ballot.

One proposes to limit the number of terms people can serve on the City Council or as mayor.

The other proposes to increase city sales tax by one-tenth of 1 percent to pay for two police officers and equipment.

If voters passed the tax, Monroe shoppers would pay 10 cents more for every $100 spent, or $8.70.
