Dead birds talk

People For Puget Sound’s next Policy Cafe, “Dead birds do tell tales,” is planned for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Anchor Pub, 1001 Hewitt Ave. in Everett.

Julia Parish of the University of Washington will talk about results of studies of dead birds along the coast. Are conditions that caused the death of thousands of seabirds in 2009 simply a perfect storm or the result of changing environmental conditions?

It’s $5 or free for members.

Bothell’s achievement: The Association of Washington Cities gave Bothell the Municipal Excellence Award for Economic Development.

Now in their 21st year, the Municipal Excellence Awards are presented to cities that have demonstrated outstanding achievements in promoting community excellence and implemented projects that improve quality of life, establish creative partnerships and build community support.

Free clinic: Safe Harbor Free Clinic is offering a chronic care clinic that specializes in treating people with diabetes, high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol and thyroid issues.

This clinic will be available on the third Friday of each month.

Regardless of financial means, patients can find these and other health-care services at no or reduced cost.
