Pow Wow in Monroe

The Monroe, Snohomish and Sultan Public Schools Skykomish Valley Indian Education program offers it’s 7th Annual Traditional Pow Wow.

The event begins at 4 p.m. Saturday at Monroe High School Commons, 17001 Tester Road in Monroe.

Everyone is welcome, and there is no admission charge.

There will be a Plains-style Pow Wow Grand Entry, a free dinner, cultural arts vendors and information tables for health and education.

The closing ceremony is planned for 10 p.m. Proceeds from donations and raffles will benefit the Skykomish Valley Indian Education Parent Organization scholarship fund and cultural events.

Memorial Day closures: Memorial Day is Monday. Here are some closures and schedule changes:

Government: Federal, state and local offices will be closed.

Schools: Closed, including colleges.

Garbage: Rubatino Refuse Removal and Waste Management will run routes on Monday.

Post offices: Closed, although express mail service continues.

Commerce: Most businesses and banks will be closed. Malls and many retail stores will be open.

Transportation: Everett Transit will be on a Sunday schedule. Community Transit will not operate. Mukilteo and Clinton ferry service will be on a holiday schedule. For state ferry information, call 888-808-7977.
