Poor timing to add Cabela’s now

The May 23 Street Smarts column addressed a question about the traffic mess on 116th Street NE and I-5 in Marysville. The story stated that the “fix” is just in need of money and they are hoping to start work in late 2012. Meanwhile, Quil Ceda Village is now going to have a 110,000 square-foot Cabela’s store added to the empty lot next to Home Depot. The story states that the new Cabela’s store is supposed to be completed by late 2012.
This is very poor timing. Before there is enough money to fix the traffic problems we already have, let’s put up a huge store in the area to add even more traffic. Ridiculous! Maybe every store in the village should be required to add a million dollars to the pot and fix the traffic problems that their stores have created.
