Wakeboarding’s top professional riders from around the world will compete July 8 and 9 at the fourth stop of the 2011 MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour.

It’s happening at Lake Tye in Monroe.

The MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour stop in Monroe will be free beginning at 8 a.m. July 8, during the preliminary rounds for the Pro Men, Pro Women’s and the amateur Jr. Pro Men’s divisions. The event will wrap up at 10:30 a.m. July 9 with ticketed events.

Ice skate for less: The Comcast Community Ice Rink is offering a reduced rate for families on July 4. From 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday, a family of four can skate for $16.

The regular price for four is $20.

Sky Valley schools need teachers: The Sky Valley Community Schools are looking for residents who are interested in teaching next fall.

People do not need to be certified or have experience. They do need to have special interests or skills to teach classes such as gardening, arts, travel or finances. Sky Valley Community is a program offering evening adult classes in Park Place Middle School in Monroe. The fall session is from late September to mid-December.

Anyone interested is asked to send their class details by Tuesday so your offering can be advertised.
