MONROE — Two city boards are looking for people to fill vacancies.

The planning commission, which reviews land issues and makes recommendations to the City Council, is looking for two new members. The appointments are open to anyone who lives within city limits and from all areas of interest, skill or experience.

The position pays $50 a month and the commission meets every second and fourth Monday of the month.

The ethics board also is looking for two new members, but it has more requirements than the planning commission.

A candidate for the unpaid position must be a U.S. citizen and must have been living within city limits for at least one year.

The board conducts hearings and advises when a city official has been accused of ethics violations or conflicts of interest.

Applications will be accepted until all positions are filled. People wanting to join either board need to send a letter of interest. There will be an interview process for both boards.

For the ethics board position, the letter should include background, education, experience and reason for your interest.
