Granite Falls grad receives scholarship
Granite Falls High School honors graduate D’mitri Rondorf received a college scholarship at the Washington Association of Sheriff’s and Police Chiefs Spring Conference in Yakima.
Rondorf has been a member of the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office Explorer program since the age of 14. He has been recognized for his commitment to community safety awareness programs and crime prevention.
Rondorf plans to attend Everett Community College in the fall and study criminal justice and law enforcement.
Manu Sood Art scholarship awarded
The 2011 Manu Sood Mountlake Terrace Arts Commission awarded a $2,000 scholarship to Mountlake Terrace High School senior Abby Mitton.
She plans to attend Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, Ore.
Manu Sood was a member of the Mountlake Terrace Arts Commission who died in 2009.
Snohomish student an Eastern grad
Kaitlin Rae Maile of Snohomish recently graduated from Eastern University with a bachelor of science degree and earned placement on the dean’s list.
Maile graduated from Snohomish High School and was in the Everett ORCA program or Ocean Research College Academy.
Western student earns scholarship
Western Washington University student Stephanie Dilbeck of Lynnwood received a $1,000 Alumni Emerging Leaders Scholarship for the next academic year.
Dilbeck is a junior at Western and is majoring in special education and elementary education. She has earned a 3.68 GPA and plans to graduate in December 2012.
Edmonds Lions Club gives scholarships
The Edmonds Lions Club presented two local students with $1,000 scholarships June 13. Cory Rois from Edmonds Woodway High School and Hae-Ri Jung from Meadowdale High School received the scholarships.
Rotary Club gives eight scholarships
The Rotary Club of Lake Stevens recently awarded $1,000 scholarships to eight students as part of the club’s scholarship program.
Recipients were Juliana Borges, Brooke Dalgleish, Dean Franz and Kylee Hilde of Lake Stevens; and Maia Hanson, D’mitri Rondorf, Hanna Schneiders and Shante Stowell of Granite Falls.
Cascade High grad on American dean’s list
Kayley Caffrey received dean’s list honors with a 3.97 GPA for the past school year at American University in Washington, D.C. She placed in the top 3 percent of students.
Caffrey graduated from Cascade High School in 2010 and was salutatorian at graduation.
Marysville student on Bryant dean’s list
Mikayla LaRosa of Marysville was named to the spring semester dean’s list at Bryant University in Rhode Island.
LaRosa, a sophomore, is majoring in communications.
Local Problem Solvers take top spots
A team of students from Little Cedars Elementary took top places out of 60 teams in competitions at the 2011 Future Problem Solving International Conference, which took place in Wisconsin in June.
Chris Bianchini, Malakai Fifita, Evan Brees and Mayank Motukuri placed fourth in the Global Issues Problem Solving Competition.
Ty Roth from Dutch Hill Elementary joined the group to place third for their Action Plan Presentation.
County students now Gonzaga grads
The following Snohomish County students graduated from Gonzaga University.
These students have either completed their undergraduate degree or are expected to complete requirements this year.

Lake Stevens: Alexa Bostwick and Krista Van Dyke.
Langley: Jason Tenuta.
Lynnwood: Alexandra Harrington and Francis Santiago.
Marysville: Shannon McCann and Michael Stadum.
Monroe: Meghan Palmer and Heather-Nicole Seybold.
Mukilteo: Heather Bonner, Channing Paradis and Katherine Zarn.

Mill Creek student a San Diego graduate
Kira Johal of Mill Creek graduated from the University of San Diego in May.
Johal earned a bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in sociology.
She is a 2007 graduate of Henry M. Jackson High School. Her parents are Neena Johal and the late Baljit Johal.
Lakewood student on Baylor dean’s list
Shelbey Jackson, a 2010 graduate of Lakewood High School, was named to the dean’s list at Baylor University in Waco, Texas.
Jackson was also on the Big 12 Commissioners Honor Roll for being a NCAA Division I athlete on the equestrian team with an outstanding GPA.
Lake Stevens student on Midland dean’s list
Jonathan Wilbourne of Lake Stevens was named to the dean’s list at Midland University in Fremont, Neb.
Mukilteo woman on dean’s list
Kelsey Patrick of Mukilteo was named to the Seaver College dean’s list at Pepperdine University in Malibu, Calif. Patrick is one of only 263 students to receive the honor.
Kamiak grad gets degree from UPS
Kyle Benson, a 2007 graduate of Kamiak High School, earned a business degree from the University of Puget Sound in May.
Benson was a member in the fraternity Beta Theta P and president of the Investment Club.
Area students make Great Falls honor lists
Barbara Noste of Camano Island, Kaitlin De Jong of Everett and Cullen Cantwell of Marysville were named to the University of Great Falls, Mont., spring semester president’s honor roll.
Becca Benedict of Camano Island was named to the spring semester dean’s list.
