Fire at Monroe store ruled an accident

MONROE — A Wednesday night fire at the Staples store on U.S. 2 in Monroe was ruled an accident.
The fire appears to have started with an electrical problem in the rooftop heating unit, Monroe Fire Marshal Mike Fitzgerald said. The early damage estimate was $20,000.
The two-alarm fire broke out about 6:30 p.m. Damage mostly was limited to the roof.
