EVERETT — Sidney Rielly’s 27 points and 12 rebounds were more than enough to help Everett upset first-place Glacier Peak 66-52 in a Wesco 3A girls basketball game Saturday night.

Rielly’s scoring output began in the first quarter as she scored 10 of her team’s 19 points. The Seagulls ended the first quarter on a 13-0 run to take a 19-5 lead.

“Honestly, the lead, for the most part, stayed in double digits,” said Everett head coach John Low. “I don’t believe after the half it got any closer than nine.”

Having lost to Glacier Peak by 20 in the two teams’ first meeting, Low said the key to the win over the Grizzlies this time was more pressure. “Last time we played them we just dropped back, this time we just pressed the whole game and forced them to use the shot clock,” Low said.

Everett’s defense was able to hold Glacier Peak’s Taylor Rasmussen to just 14 points and Katie Hawkins to seven.

Everett was assisted offensively by senior guard Jody Barhonovich, who had nine of her 12 points in the fourth quarter.
