Dine to help student

A fundraiser to help raise money for the care of a Marysville Pilchuck High School student who was seriously hurt in a dirt-bike accident is planned for tonight.

Nic Trout, 16, fell off of a 35-foot embankment while riding a motorized dirt bike on March 10 in the Walker Valley Off-Road Vehicle area, southeast of Mount Vernon.

The “dine for donations” benefit from 5 to 8 p.m. is at Boston’s Restaurant, 16918 Twin Lakes Avenue in Marysville. The Trout family is posting updates online about his day-to-day condition at www.caringbridge.org/visit/nicholastrout.

How to help Sarvey Wildlife Center: The seventh annual Selfless for Sarvey fundraisers are planned from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Granite Falls IGA and the Arlington Food Pavilion. Volunteers will accept donations and are asking for donated items including fleece blankets, heating pads without timers, fans and washcloths. Sarvey Wildlife Center in Arlington aims to care for injured, orphaned and sick wild animals.

Fundraiser cancelled: The Island County Republican Party has cancelled its fundraiser this Saturday at Comcast Arena featuring former U.N. ambassador John Bolton.

The annual Lincoln Day dinner is one of the group’s primary means of raising money to help Republican candidates.

No reason was given for the cancelation on the group’s website. No substitute event had been planned.

Refunds are available. Those who do not receive a refund by April 15 are asked to call Island County Republican Party Chairman Brett Wilhelm at 360-222-3330.
