SNOHOMISH — In what Glacier Peak coach Shannon Murray called a “mid-field battle,” the Grizzlies fought Lynnwood to a scoreless tie in a Wesco 3A game on Thursday afternoon.
Glacier Peak goalkeeper Jesus Mendoza didn’t record a single save due to the fact that he faced zero shots on goal. The Grizzlies, conversely, managed just four shots on goal against Royals goalkeeper Jose Del Rio.
“(Today) we just defended well,” said Murray. “We kept them in front of us, we didn’t allow them past the back line. I’m very happy with our team’s effort.”
Murray also gave credit to Del Rio: “Jose made some really great saves that kept them in the game. I definitely give kudos to him.”
With the tie Glacier Peak record is now at 2-4-3 on the season, while Lynnwood goes to 6-3-1 in the Wesco 3A standings.
