I want my DogTV

And now a woof from our sponsor: Two San Diego, Calif., cable TV companies are offering an on-demand channel that shows eight hours of dog-focused programming for canines left at home during the day. Color and sound are adjusted specifically to canine senses.

DogTV has proved popular, but owners are reporting increased fights over the remote between dogs and cats, because the cats keep switching back to watch Anderson Cooper and Ellen DeGeneres.

Ground Control to Major Tom: The first piece of a space shuttle trainer, essentially a wingless shuttle used by astronauts to train for flights, arrived at Seattle’s Museum of Flight where it will be reassembled for display.

But we think the Museum of Flight is missing an opportunity to tie in with the 50th anniversary of the Seattle World’s Fair; we suggest setting it up at the former Fun Forest site under the old “Flight to Mars” marquee.

Don’t know much about history: On this day in 1934, the first laundromat opened in Fort Worth, Texas.

As this was at the height of the Great Depression, most people used the laundromat’s washing machines, with the “bright colors” setting, to clean their burlap sack dresses and wooden barrels.
