SNOHOMISH — Despite the wet conditions on Thursday afternoon, Glacier Peak pitcher Callie Bircher was able to brave the elements and throw a no-hitter to lead the Grizzlies to a 6-0 victory over Lynnwood in a Wesco 3A game.

For Bircher (5-4) it was her second no-hitter of the season, and third of her carrer. The first of the season coming against Marysville Pilchuck in March — a combined effort with starting pitcher Kaylee Lawson — in which Bircher came into relief in the first inning.

“With the conditions our battery was very impressive,” said Glacier Peak coach Brad Johnson. “(Callie) was throwing down quick so we could get the game in.”

Bircher could have added a perfect game to her high school resume, but Johnson was sure to blame the weather when it came to Callie’s two walks and one HBP.

Lawson led the Grizzlies batters by hitting a double to go along with her two RBI on the afternoon.

Junior Chantel Conrad batted 2-for-2 with two singles in the victory.

With the win Glacier Peak improves to 7-3 in league and moves into second place in Wesco 3A, passing Lynnwood (6-3), which fell to third.
