Mason-Dixon’s second line: Boeing’s second 787 assembly line in North Charleston, S. C., is expected to roll out its first Dreamliner this morning, as the jetmaker prepares to ramp up its production to as many as 10 787s a month by the end of 2013.

The South Carolina-built 787s won’t be any different than those built in Everett, but the North Charleston plant is offering airlines an optional trimline that includes overhead bins long enough to accommodate bass fishing poles and a gunrack in the back of the cockpit.

Keep your gun holstered, mister: The Secret Service prostitution scandal widened with new allegations that an advance team hired strippers and prostitutes in El Salvador while preparing for the president’s visit last year.

Among the proposals being considered by the Secret Service to ensure that it doesn’t happen again, advance teams would be preceded by their own advance teams of Secret Service wives to clear the area of hookers.

Not in service: A group of 48 employees with Philadelphia’s transit agency had the winning ticket in this week’s $172.7 million Powerball drawing. That’s more than $3.5 million for each member of the pool.

It’s bad enough when your ticket isn’t the winner. It’s worse when your bus doesn’t come because your driver’s was.
