Sexual assaults reported on Bainbridge Island

BAINBRIDGE ISLAND — Police on Bainbridge Island are looking for a suspect or suspects in two similar sexual assaults.

The first occurred around 4:30 p.m. Sunday. A 19-year-old woman was pushed to the ground from behind and held her by the neck. A man started to take off her pants, but authorities say she struck him and bit his fingers until he ran off.

Another assault occurred at about 4:40 p.m. Sunday. A 53-year-old woman said a man she didn’t know came up behind her while she was walking on the sidewalk and groped her.

Both women described a suspect in his mid-20s, with short black hair and medium build.
