MONROE — Three Monroe firefighters injured while battling a house fire Monday have been released from the hospital.

One suffered a concussion, another was treated for heat exhaustion and a third will need follow-up surgery for a hand injury, according to Monroe Fire Marshal Mike Fitzgerald.

“Thankfully, all of our firefighters will recover and be back to work as soon as they are fully recovered,” Fitzgerald said.

Three people were displaced by Monday’s blaze, located in the 23100 block of Highway 203, about five miles south of the city.

Snohomish County fire marshal investigators determined that the accidental fire was caused by some electrical wiring.

The two-story house was a total loss. The American Red Cross was assisting the victims.
