GOLD BAR — A hiker suffered minor injuries Friday after falling over the lower falls at Wallace Falls State Park near Gold Bar.

The hiker, 23, of Monroe, fell about 50 feet, Gold Bar Fire Chief Eric Andrews said.

Emergency crews were summoned about 1:30 p.m.

About three hours later, they were able to hook the hiker into a rescue harness. The harness was connected to the Snohomish County sheriff’s rescue helicopter.

The helicopter team towed the man to nearby Fire Station 54.

The man was assessed by aid crews there. He was expected to be taken to a local hospital for a medical evaluation, Andrews said.

Emergency responders also assisted from Monroe and Clearview.
