Still a few bugs in the system

Tough call: Boeing executives are expected to take a host of questions about its 787 Dreamliner during an earnings call Wednesday with analysts and reporters. Most recently, a parked Ethiopian Airlines 787 suffered damage when an emergency locator beacon caught fire. Boeing may be asked about how the 787’s carbon-fiber composite fuselage will be repaired.

Maybe they’ve already thought of this, but Mom always had pretty good luck with iron-on patches on our Sears’ Toughskins.

So, can they get it here overnight? FedEx is donating a Boeing 727 freighter to Everett Community College’s Aviation Maintenance Technician School at Paine Field, providing students hands-on experience in their courses.

The Boeing 727 will be the largest plane in the school’s training fleet, that is until a slightly scorched Ethiopian Airlines 787 arrives.

Channel surfing the vast cultural wasteland: Among the best bets this week on TV are a reality series that shows home chefs pitching food products to grocery chains, a game show that combines a spelling bee and a dunk tank, and series about families being tormented by spooky voices and other paranormal activity.

At this point we’re seriously considering a Tivo marathon of “2 Broke Girls” repeats.
